The beauty of the Chicago Bears not playing a game on Sunday meant that I had several hours to myself, as well. My football brain was not occupied, while my kids were occupied. I took it upon myself to dig through all the Halloween stuff–well, some of it, because a decent chunk is stuffed into a shed at my Mom's place—and begin constructing this year's scene. My 10-year-old's idea was a bunch of small skeletons praying in front of the big skeleton, and so far, it looks awesome. (I will share a picture when the lighting is up and I'm not doxxing myself by taking the picture.) And, of course, within hours of even some of the setup being up, there were families walking by and kids remarking "the skeletons are back!!!!" One of my favorite parts about putting up these ridiculous objects is knowing it's bringing tiny bits of joy to people in the neighborhood when they're going on walks.
