You'll hear more about this in a future HOA episode, I'm sure, but today was a day I've been dreading for an exceptionally long time: our ancient HVAC system requires a repair costly enough that you should just replace the whole thing entirely. It's a terribly expensive repair that, much like a roof, is something that is replaced relatively quickly and almost no one will notice that you've spent the equivalent of a down payment on a car having it installed. $500 to get another year out of the system? OK, sure. $2,000, knowing it's, at best, a band-aid? Well, good thing we decided against doing that big family trip this year! (A trip that was cancelled largely because prices, thanks to Trump, made our destination ideas broadly unfeasible.)
