24 hours ago, I was looking forward to spending a few days in Cabo San Lucas—without kids!!—to celebrate a friend's milestone birthday. Now, uh, we are scrambling to see if we can relocate somewhere else that is also sunny and probably not anywhere near Cabo San Lucas. I was really looking forward to that infinity pool, though. 😩
-pk, who's looking forward to chatting about RE9 this week

- PODCAST: Hey Xbox, Are You Okay? – Rob and I recorded two podcasts on Sunday evening in anticipation of his power going out because of the snowstorm descending on the east coast, including this hourlong conversation about the end of the Phil Spencer era at Xbox and what possibly comes next.
- PODCAST: Worth Reading – It's back! Once upon a time, I had a regular column at Giant Bomb and Kotaku where I'd highlight interesting games reporting, writing, and criticism. I've long wanted to bring back Worth Reading in some form or another, and that'll happen this week in podcast form. 30 minute chats about people who are doing interesting work writing about games. (I am not against bringing on people who do video essays.)
- STREAM: Steam Next Fest – It's demo time with me and Chia!
- ARTICLE/PODCAST: Cairn – The next thing I'm doing after writing this newsletter is starting to write a first draft of a Cairn feature, based on an interview that I conducted last week. I hope you're enjoying these pieces!
- The next one is Planet of Lana II.
- PODCAST: Remap Radio – Well, I wasn't supposed to be on this week because we were going to move towards a Thursday recording slot, but Rob's power is out, so in anticipation of that being a several day event, we're doing our normal recording time, missed news be damned. But it does mean I can come on and chat about the hours I've spent exploring Resident Evil 9, at least.
- STREAM: The Sims – I will hopefully, god willing, be checking in on whatever nonsense they're getting up to while sitting in a pool and drinking a beer.
