Ah, well, nevertheless. In 2019, my wife and I left our house to attend a Bears playoff game as our oldest daughter, then two years old, cried from a window. The Bears lost—the double doink year. In 2026, my wife and I left our house to attend a Bears playoff game as our youngest daughter, who is five years old, cried from a window. As we pulled away from the house, I turned to my wife: "Is that an omen?" I am not superstitious. I do not believe in jinxes. I make no apologies for attending both games. I could get hit by a car tomorrow. If the Chicago Bears are in a playoff game, you bet your ass I'm going to find a way to show up. (In fact, my friend and are were already joking about booking tickets to Seattle when the game went to overtime. Alas!) And look, it was a team that showed up all season. My heart is full, though my heart is also sad. I'm less sad the Bears lost than I am sad they will not be playing football again for many months. It's a different feeling.

P.S. If you are tired of Sports! (understandable)!, my expectation is that, with this magical season over, that will become a much more normal part of the rotation.

-pk, whose seats were extremely close to that amazing last touchdown

The upcoming week for Remap
The week!
  • ARTICLE: "The New Chicago Bears Experience" by Rob Zacny – The joy of not knowing how things would end.
  • PODCAST: Sports! – Well, they lost. And yet... I feel fine? I'm curious to see where Rob ends up. My experience is obviously colored by attending in-person.
  • STREAM: Baby Steps – I'm locked in. We conquered that damn climb, and I'm ready to keep going. That's assuming I can solve how to play soccer.
  • PODCAST: Remap Radio – Round two of game of the year!
  • STREAM: RV There Yet? – Captain Rob will guide us to victory.
  • ARTICLE: Letter Series — What's happening in Minnesota is pretty fucked up. It's got us thinking about what's happening there and our own backyards.
